Cielo y Tierra Tours is a small, friendly tour company based in the highland colonial town of San Cristóbal de Las Casas in the southern state of Chiapas, Mexico.

We specialize in cultural day tours that take you beyond the guidebooks and into the beautiful pine-forested mountains surrounding San Cristóbal, where you'll discover vibrant
living Maya culture and magnificent ancient Maya ruins.

All our excursions are personally guided by Alex Aranda, the owner and founder of Cielo y Tierra Tours, which means you benefit from a professional and experienced tour leader who is dedicated to providing excellent service with a personal touch.
About our tours

We offer private guided tours to some of the fascinating
highland Maya villages around San Cristóbal, famous for their colorful festivals and markets and exquisite handwoven textiles. Our tours include:

We also offer excursions to the ancient Maya sites of:

... with their rich histories and stunning locations.

Our tours connect the Maya past to its present, and we hope that through them you gain a deeper understanding of contemporary Maya life and an appreciation of this remarkable civilization.

Chiapas is the land of the Classic Maya
whose descendants still inhabit the highland villages today.

Visiting these villages is a wonderful experience, as the highland Maya cling proudly to ancient customs and traditions (many of which can be traced back to over 1,500 years ago) and weave them into their daily lives.

Exploring their bustling, colorful markets and participating in their vibrant fiesta celebrations, you'll feel as though you have stepped back in time into a magical world very different from our own.

We look forward to welcoming you on a tour with us soon.
